Description
Our Rose de France amethyst ring is a beautiful part of our gemstone jewelry collection. The amethyst is surrounded by pink tourmaline and micro pave diamond. Furthermore, the ring is 18 karat white gold.
Unlike typical amethyst, which is a deep purple color, this stone is a light lavender color. Also, the stone is checkerboard cut. The facets allow for a beautiful but subtle sparkle. The pink tourmaline gems are also checkerboard cut.
The under gallery of the ring displays beautiful script detail. Currently, the ring is a size 7. However, it could be sized by a jeweler with ease.
What is Rose de France Amethyst?
Rose de France is a variety of amethyst found only in southern Brazil, known for a light lavender or pink lavender color. These colors are due to the presence of titanium oxide. One fascinating aspect of the stone is pleochroism. Hence, it can display tones of red or blue( depending on how light strikes the gem).
Typically, this is a natural gemstone. Occasionally the color of Rose de France is enhanced by heating. When shopping for a Rose de France ring, be sure to ask if the stone is a treated or enhanced gem.
The stone rose to popularity across Europe in 1727. At this time, it was called Brazilian Amethyst. Over time, the stone’s popularity in France led to the name “Rose de France.”
Amethyst is a seven on the Mohs scale, meaning it resists scratching and chipping. However, you’ll want to ensure you maintain proper jewelry care. By employing standard care techniques (such as regular cleanings), you’ll extend the life of your ring.
